amber + ohana | humboldt family photography

even with the chaos, emotions and unpredictably of daily life on earth, there’s a thread of love that’s woven through it all. when you show up despite what’s going down in life, this is what happens. I love the natural, organic and emotions that came through while spending sunset with this ohana.

amber and her keiki met me at moonstone beach, which is a short drive from their home. the whole arcata, eureka, mckinnlyville and trinidad area is close to my heart! I lived in arcata from 2008-2010 and attended humboldt state university. it’s a special place, nestled between the redwoods and the pacific ocean. I’m obsessed with the smell of the air, the interesting humans and the abundance of trees.

this was one of my favorite stops along my solo west coast roadtrip, and doing family photos in humboldt county brought back memories of my first shoots. being in the darkroom on campus for hours on end. nostalgic and free!
