taurus moon jewelry | pauwela cannery | haiku, hawaii
everyday I head over to my studio space at the pauwela cannery in haiku. it’s my home away from home, the space is crucial for my happiness and creativity — it has proper internet (which I don’t get at my home), mirrors for dancing, and I share the building with so many other small businesses. there’s baked coffee shop, haiku hardware, all the surfboard shapers, treehouse art gallery, wings hawaii, and so many other talented musicians and artists.
in the front of the pauwela cannery, you’ll see realm hawaii located next to the coffee shop. Nicokel in there most days creating gorgeous and unique jewelry — she’s the creator of Taurus Moon Jewelry. we did a shoot recently, and I wanted to share a bit more about Nickoel and her process.

what’s your favorite stone to use?
I get so excited when I get a custom order for an opal. I swear I live vicariously watching people sift through opals and hand select a stone that speaks to them. Its like I’m handpicking them all over again….
where can people find your work?
I have an open studio in the pauwela cannery open daily from 10-2. Its right next door to baked and has an nice storefront. North Shore spots carrying my jewels are Driftwood in Makwao and C’est La Vie in Paia. and on my website here.
when you’re not creating, what are you up to?
I just got done pouring all of my energy into renovating my 1920’s plantation house just below the cannery. We had a lot of fun (and challenges) creating a space that fits with our taste and suits our family. Now that its just about done I’m back to cleaning it up and chasing after my two kiddos 😉
Oh yeah- and manifesting another large project!
