Kona Village Resort

Kona Village – A Rosewood Resort is located on Kahuwai Bay on the Big Island of Hawaii. This stunning resort sits on 81 acres, a mix of lava rock, vibrant gardens, fish ponds, and a beautiful coastline. They use 100% solar throughout the whole property, and even have a wastewater treatment plant to recycle water as opposed to using county water. The thatched roof hale throughout the property and design merges with nature for a relaxing place to stay.

When I first started maternity photography, I had never heard of a babymoon. As the years went on, more and more women requested a babymoon photo shoot during their trip. It is a chance to relax and have an intimate trip before baby is born. I’m so grateful to document this transformational time, as each ‘ohana prepares to welcome a new soul to Earth.

Locations for your Babymoon Shoot while staying at Kona Village

This sweet couple was staying at Kona Village Resort, but also wanted white sandy beach photos. We started off at Kukio Beach which is a 10 minute drive from Kona Village, and ended out on Kahuwai Bay after they did a quick change at their room. As a Big Island photographer, I know the proper permits to pull for each location, and take care of all the administrative side of things with the DLNR and Film Office before every photo shoot.

What to Wear to Your Big Island Maternity Photo Shoot

I always recommend arriving in your first outfit, and doing a change half way through your session. Most women do a mix of a dress and swimsuit, to show off their bare belly at this fleeting stage of life while in Hawai’i.
