Big Island Family Photographer | Wai'ala and Family in Ocean View

I made the trip from Kona to the slopes of Mauna Loa to visit Wai’ala and her ohana on their homstead. Misty Mountain Homestead is surreal, located at 4500 feet and nestled in a vast grove of ‘ōhi’a trees. Wai’ala and her husband JJ live off-grid with their son, tending to flowers and practicing sustainability and stewardship. We’ve been IG friends for years, so I was so excited to finally meet this beautiful wahine in person! Our shoot was on a serendipitous day, in between JJ and Wai’ala’s 12 year wedding anniversary (8/8) and 17 year anniversary of being together (8/10).
