how to prepare for your family session | maui photographer

as your maui photographer, I want you to have the best session ever. today, I’m dishing out some tips to prepare for your session! I had to add some sweetness too — enjoy the photographs of Emily and her family we did at sunset in wailea.

4 tips to prepare for your maui family photography session

1. wear what makes you feel beautiful – soft and flowy. colorful and bold. whatever makes you feel confident, free, and comfortable! this is a good place for me to say, no matching white shirts and kakis, yo! there are 7+ billion people on this planet, and you are a uniquely you! if you and the fam want to frolic in the waves at the end, bring an extra change of clothes for the car ride home. need more inspiration? check out my maui family portraits board on pinterest.

2. lots of rest – some kids are super fresh in the morning, and I recommend sunrise shoots for these bebes! sunrise sessions also mean morning coffee, no crowds, empty beaches, and pretty light. if sunset is more your jam (yay silhouettes!) make sure you leave time to rest after a day raging at the beach and pool. lots of water and limit the sugar to keep everyone happy.

3. have fun – this is all about photographing your family’s love and essence! let everything go and enjoy yourselves. you are on one of the most beautiful islands in the world — being present with your fam is what it’s all about. laugh, hug, kiss, be weird, play… and leave the rest up to me! if you think your kids are acting up, puhh-lease don’t stress! as your maui photographer, I gotchu — I’ll be their bff within the first 5 minutes, and we will get amazing photographs you’ll adore. enjoy yourself, you’ll remember this day forever!
