Best Beaches for Sunset Maternity Photos in Kona, Hawaii

Kona is a beautiful district or moku on Hawaii Island that has stunning beaches that are perfect for your maternity session. As Hawaii Island is the youngest out of all the islands, there are unique lava flows and features that make it unlike anywhere else on earth.

Whether you’re attracted to the the dark contrast of lava rocks or white sand with coconut trees, Kailua-Kona offers the perfect locations to celebrate your babymoon and take your maternity photos!

Kohanaiki – a popular local spot for surfing, with beautiful tide pools and lava rocks on the north side. I love this location for its diversity, we can get both white coral and also black lava rocks.

Kona Old Airport Beach – long stretch with white sand and trees lining the beach. When waves are big everywhere else, this spot will have calm tide pools to go in.

Ke’ei Beach – this beach is in South Kona, secluded, private, and lined with coconut trees. I recommend weekdays here, as weekends often have local ‘ohana that are fishing and camping.
